Boon Island

In February 1978, a violent storm with waves up to 70 feet high smashed into the lighthouse and destroyed the keeper's house.  In an amazing rescue, a Coast Guard helicopter rescued the 2 keepers trapped in the light tower.  The 133 foot tower is the tallest lighthouse in Maine.  Built 1852.  Issued 1999.  Lights via cord and night light bulb, included.  13"H.
