Cape Hatteras Island (Moving)

The imminent approach of the Atlantic Ocean threatened our nation's tallest lighthouse.  With its waves lapping just 120 ft. from the base of the lighthouse, beach nourishments, groins and sandbags became ineffective efforts to it preservation.  In the end, it was moved in 1999, a painstaking effort spanning many months.  Every precaution was taken to spare the lighthouse any damage and today it stands 1600 feet from the dangers of the Atlantic Ocean.  It's future is secure and our history preserved.  LE of 2,4000 pcs.  Hand numbered on back edge.
